Serverless compute with AWS Lambda

In this lab, you will create a simple AWS Lambda project using the Visual Studio 2019. You will create an AWS Lambda function that will create B&W thumbnail of a file saved in Amazon S3 bucket. It shows how to configure and associate an event to a AWS Lambda function as well as how to troubleshoot using the Amazon CloudWatch.

Also you will learn about AWS Lambda configuration such as memory size and how it affects performance.

The following exercises should be completed in order for this lab:

  • Create an AWS Lambda Project
  • Create an Amazon S3 bucket
  • Create AWS IAM Role
  • Deploy to AWS Lambda
  • Create and Associate the Amazon S3 Event to your AWS Lambda function
  • Upload files and check the AWS Lambda execution
  • Test performance of AWS Lambda function based on the configured memory size
